DōsojinSeptember 2024
Dōsojin is a photobook concept I developed, showcasing my own photographs that capture the transitional and liminal phases of life. Dōsojin are Shinto gods said to protect those in transitional phases of life and the spaces in-between. They are believed to oversee a state of transition of some kind; such as, the old to the new, the unconscious to the conscious state, the familiar to the unknown. These deities are often found at village boundaries, in mountain passes, at abandoned sites, or near bridges and street corners. They safeguard the physical and metaphorical thresholds we cross during periods of liminality.
