Callum Mintzis is a composer and improvisor based in Melbourne. He has worked with international improvisers such as Vijay Iyer, Ambrose Akinmusire, Julia Reidy, and Ralph Alessi. He has also worked with artists and organizations as varied as the Australian Art Orchestra, Monash Art Ensemble, Chamber Made, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. His work is informed by a deep passion for the nature of life itself, and the integral value of each human being’s individual experience. I designed a series of album covers for him, incorporating his own photography. He was looking for a minimalist style that would still carry a strong impact, drawing major inspiration from Ryuichi Sakamoto.
